A name that claims both nearness and distance - 

The foreign-ness of unseen motherland,

My culture misplaced in the naming of things.

Or rather, my culture is a misplacement -

I am standing in a doorway undecided on whether 

I am coming or going

And making a home in that moment of indecision,

To live in doorways,

Looking to the potential of both ways. 

Your genus is not prunus, 

Nor would it ever seek to be,

But you are of this place,

And you are beautiful and sweet.
